DoT Authorised Inspection Station

Halls Creek 4WD are an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) for the Department of Transport.

To obtain a valid vehicle registration in Western Australia, if you have been issued a defect notice (known colloquially as a yellow sticker), if you have forgotten to pay for registration so that it has lapsed, if you want to licence a repairable write-off, or if you have made any modifications to the vehicle, you will be required to have a Department of Transport (DoT) inspection.

Some vehicles are also subject to annual inspection, such as Cars utilised for passenger services and their drivers should be aware if their car needs one. It is mandatory to renew inspection certificates that have expired (with a 3-month validity period) or else drivers will have to obtain an inspection.

We are certified to carry out Department of Transportation (DoT) examinations (Pit Inspections) on your automobile and furnish you with the essential paperwork to allow you to get your vehicle registered.

You may need to get your vehicle examined if:

  • You need to license (register) your vehicle in Western Australia for the first time or registration has lapsed.
  • You have been issued a compliance notice - (commonly called a yellow sticker, work order or defect notice).
  • Your vehicle has been modified - (for example: change in vehicle body, new engine, dimensions).
  • Your vehicle requires annual examination (buses, taxis and other types of passenger vehicles must be examined annually (at the time of vehicle licence/registration renewal).
  • To license a repairable written-off vehicle.
